How many members have we lost today to the political questions overswaming the question board?

Category: Rant

Just witnessed one disappearing seconds ago. Those arguing them will likely say "so what, yada yada..." Guess what? It's not so what! This is the environment we represent to new members:

1. feel welcome
2. get tired by all these political question
3. finally, the snap - "lose your head once, and we will go for your throat!"

I cannot say this too much. We need a more healthy environment. We will only get this if we have a more varied question board. Members who have tried to enlighten the content, and who came here with fresh blood have been forced off again with what we have to offer to them. It's a losing game... We cannot compete with the persistence of the political posters. There need to be a change, either in the interface where we can filter the question board (most, recent, views, replies etc.) or by a changed understanding of all members and an understanding of needs to move the questions into the debate room to enable the chances of getting the question board running with more varied questions. It is not about censoring, but about choice of forum.

End of rant. To the one who just deleted, you will be missed. We did not agree about what you wrote but you did contribute with lots of positive things during your short stay. I will better hold here before I say anything else.

Bonus question: how many of those from Blurtit do we have left now?

  • bonus questions -  ... is it really  the  trump questions people are turned off by ?   ,,, or  certain  folks asking them ? or folks attempting to highlight the blame  elsewhere  and   trump  posts  was mentioned so they ran  with the finger pointing and overposting   to distract from  the childish nitpicking  ,  and pissing contests  they are involved in  causing the same thing  ?
    hummmm.

To my personal belief, and this is not based on what others have said or done, I don't care about how many PET this or that questions are asked, I do also reply on some of them. I did not care about the Breitbart inspired questions some members posted back some time. I do also not care how many unused trash bag questions are asked. What I do care about is a healthy environment where there is a spot for all of us, also if we don't agree. What I do care about, is a varied and colorful question board that I can look forward to enter and explore the questions. And sure, a political question among them would add to the variety as would the unused trash bag question. They each have something to add. But in masses where they get a majority it ends up dominating the question board. If I want sexual related questions I go to the adultMug. If I want lesbian related questions I go to the Awesome Lesbians. If I want the political questions I would prefer to go to the debate room as it is right now where they take more than 1/3 of the space of it. It's a political question board with adds on as it looks right now. My very personal opinion. I am not sure if you can follow my thoughts, but that's what is behind my question that was triggered with the member disappearing right in front of my eyes before. Hmm.

JA would be the only one who might have stats on this. And that would only be the ones who bothered to tell her why they left..... We cannot assume because someone left that it was the political questions that caused them to leave. This post was edited by my2cents at December 14, 2016 7:49 AM MST

    Stats to what m2c?

Btw, I witnessed them lose their cool inside yet another political question (not yours) and seconds after they deleted. Further more they did tell about this inside my question from the other day. So yes, this member did disappear because of it. If you talk to other members from that group (one of those still here) you will see their comment about why the others left. It is all in the threads m2c (the threads I suggested you to read to get a better understanding of the issues). This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 14, 2016 7:40 AM MST

I'm sure we can make a quick first by looking up JA's question welcoming them here. Look up the Benedicts that are there now as the original commentator for each thread. It should give you a brief situation report, that is if interested.

Again that is making the assumption that all users who left because of the political questions. A very big assumption.

Have I any place stated all users? Let me ask you this: what is my main issue with my question? Appears people cannot read the message. I might have to reevaluate how I address the issues we are facing. I know I cannot get into your understanding, or just even you opening up to be willing to see things from any other side than protecting what is, and maybe not even have this discussion. Hmm.

Your issue is you don't like seeing the abundance of political questions on the Question page.  (not the worrying about the Home feed which can be filtered)  So you want the political questions in the debate room. I would suggest that you make clear that you are only complaining about the Question page.  (I only know because we discussed this at some length the other day)

And I wouldn't mind them on the question page either if we had those filters you suggested yourself in our talks previously. I did mention this though, it is inside the question description. Meh.

Yes...the ability to sort the questions not filter....(not much difference but a little) Filter blocks some questions from view,  Sort just changes the order of the view.

I know you have said question board etc.  But from reading some answers, some people are not talking about the question page...some are talking about the home page feed. (duplicates, what the users are responding too, etc)

I cannot do much more than mention it inside my question and I have several places inside the threads said I don't want to limit the ability to post questions. I'm not asking for any censoring and never did. But people (most) aren't interested in a real discussion and won't care for an explanation or use the time reading the description. One is apparently now obsessed and follows me around in the questions. We talk about grown ups here, not some teenage punks. Smh.

Yes, sort and not filter. Sorry. Couldn't find the word.

If one can't come here to vent, where can he/she go? I don't mind politicals questions. Just as long as they are asked intelligently. Maybe it's time for you to lighten up.

You read me very wrong if you believe I am saying you cannot vent, or cannot post. I ask to consider which fora to make use of. We got a very good one for debates, it is called the Debate Room. And no, I will not lighten up when all I see is members disappearing because they did not feel themselves welcome (and they did have a positive and open mind themselves). I will not lighten up, as those who could contribute with a more varied bunch of questions leave again before we ever get the chance of changing the main theme of the question board into something different as a political board with adds on of more varied nature. The questions drown. Simple as that!

    Hello Ranter:

If you DON'T like the post in front of you, USE that little clicker thing in your hand.  For the life of me, I CANNOT understand WHY some printed words on a screen could cause ANYONE to go into panic mode like you do.  They're WORDS..  Yes, they're about POLITICS, but you're NOT commanded to READ them..  NOBODY is forcing you..  You sound like you're being DONE IN by somebody.

Plus, what about the people who've LEFT because there isn't ENOUGH political discussion??  WHY don't you care about THEM???

AND, what about people like ME, who are getting tired of your rants????  Don't WE deserve a break??  I'd MUCH rather read about PET than your hateful crap...

You don't get what I am suggesting, because you are not interested in listening. That doesn't turn my words hateful. Your head does, it's your own perceptions. Let me know if you one day want to know more about communication. Might be helpful for your own business as well. Just make sure to bring an open mind and a listening ear too. Meanwhile, what you should do. Follow your own advice:

USE that little clicker thing in your hand

Edit: my reply was made for the original reply. I won't change it. The poster likes changing their posts all the time. I have no time to adjust every time they make changes, nor do I want to invest my time in it.

    Hello again, SH:

Let's, for a minute, consider that you've actually IDENTIFIED a serious problem here.  Members are leaving because they don't like political posts..   The question is, what do you DO about it??  Do you post about it on the home page, or do you recommend a SOLUTION privately to the owner??

I know you feel misunderstood, and nobody READS what you post.  But, it's NOT a matter of how deeply you FEEL about it.  It IS a matter of what you're DOING about it.. And, what you're DOING about it contributes NOTHING towards fixing it..

If it were me, and I saw a problem, I'd FIND a fix.  I'd HIRE software engineers who'd WRITE software that'll determine WHEN a debate on the home page has gone on long enough, and will automatically move it to a debate room.   Once I HAD that fix, I'd offer to SELL it to JA..  If it's a fix she WANTS, then she'll probably BUY it.  If not, she won't.

What I WOULDN'T do, is publicly complain about it, over and over, and over again..

One more time, first of all get a hold on your facts. I hope you do a better work in your political "debates". Secondly show some sincerity if you want to communicate with me. You are still looking for a fight and not a dialogue. I have several times by now told you I don't buy in on your tries to first bully, next intimidate and finally belittling. Save them for your battle to save the world. Enjoy your view from the Tower of Babel.

Folowing me inside other questions to attack me, and tell me you will follow me isn't giving you any credibility in my book. Step it up. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 14, 2016 5:05 PM MST
